Huong Pho: Authentic Vietnamese Food Near Kallang MRT

My husband and I both work from home, and on days when I don’t feel like cooking, finding an affordable yet reliable place for lunch can be a challenge. While there are tons of food options here around where we live, I could not find an eating establishment that suits both of our taste buds. That is, until we found Huong Pho.

Opened very recently in mid-2024 (also around the same time we moved to the neighborhood), Huong Pho is run by a Singaporean-Vietnamese couple and they serve very authentic Vietnamese dishes. A stall located at a food court, their location isn’t the most fancy but I can assure you, it is worth it.

My go-to is Pho Tai – which is a hearty sliced beef noodle soup, for S$8.90. If I recall correctly, the owners have shared with me that it takes 24 hours to make.

We’re also a huge fan of the Banh Mi, a Vietnamese sandwich served in a short crispy French baguette with plenty of meat and veggies for S$6.90 to S$9.90. There are three kinds of Banh Mi here: Banh Mi Truyen Tong which is the typical Banh Mi with liver pate and sliced ham, Banh Mi Thit Nuong with grilled pork, and Banh Mi Ca with sardines. I don’t fancy sardines, but the other two are great!

Aside from that, I’ve also tried their Bun Cha Gio Thit Nuong, which is a dry vermicelli bowl topped with Thit Nuong (Grilled Pork), Cha Gio (Fried Spring Rolls), and fresh veggies.

I highly recommend this place. I swear, we eat here at least twice a week – I always get the Pho Tai, and it is always delicious. I don’t get tired of it!

If you’re around Kallang, please give this place a try.
