Don Lechon Review @ Grandlink Square

I moved to the central east side of Singapore this year. With proximity to the green train line, I have been enjoying the easy access to the Paya Lebar area. So when my helper shared with us about Don Lechon serving one of the best Lechons in Singapore, we immediately made our way to Grandlink Square to find out for ourselves!

Grandlink Square can be easily accessed by foot from Paya Lebar MRT. It’s about 5-8 minutes walk depending on the traffic lights. Once you get there, go around the corner – Don Lechon is located on the outside of the building, facing the river.

There is no indoor seating, so this place may not be the best option when the weather is not cooperating. But, they do have an awning that (I think) they can roll out if it rains.

Don’t worry if you don’t see any tables available. The staff quickly set one up for us on the spot!

Wanting to test their lechon in its simplest form, we both went for the chopped lechon meal (S$13), which comes with rice and the lechon sauce made from pureed pork liver. They’ll also give you the soy and vinegar dipping sauce to cut the fat from the lechon.

Aside from the chopped lechon, they have various other lechon dishes – including the usual suspects like Sisig and Kare-kare.

I honestly gasped when our lechon was served. They really don’t hold back – the portion was huge! See it for yourself:

The lechon itself? Amazing. The skin was crispy, the meat was soft and juicy. It was everything I wanted. My only regret is not ordering the Lechon Sisig so that we could have a taste of each dish. But of course, I can always just come back.

There is no GST charged at Don Lechon. In total, we spent S$30 – S$13 for each chopped lechon meal and S$2 for canned drinks.

I was very happy with this meal. After enjoying our plate, I had to get another portion to take away for my helper so that she didn’t miss out on all this good stuff!
