ATPCO innovation will let airlines display accrual rules for loyalty points

A new ATPCO flight-shopping display will allow travelers to easily see accrual rules for loyalty points in the booking path.

The Loyalty and Rewards Universal Ticket Attribute (UTA) is now available for airlines and other ticket sales channels to integrate into their shopping interfaces. So far none are signed up, but ATPCO says many are interested.

UTAs are used by airline merchandisers to clearly spell out what is included in specific fare products. Existing UTAs provide information such as baggage allowances, change and cancellation fees, seat selection rules, and CO2 emissions.

The Loyalty and Rewards UTA will let shoppers know point-accrual rates for various fare products. For example, some airlines don’t award loyalty points for basic economy, and some award more points for purchases of premium seats. Airlines and OTAs that use the new ATPCO UTA will be able to clearly display such information.
