Chiang Mai, My Home – A Travel Video Travel Video

Video Description:

“Chiang Mai, My Home” is a travel video that follows a young local woman as she travels through her home province of Chiang Mai, Thailand while experiencing all the incredible things one can do in the city, witnessing some of the most beautiful sights in the province, and giving us a glimpse of what made her so proud of her hometown.

It is a travel video that highlights all the incredible qualities that have made so many people from all over the world call Chiang Mai their second home. From the unmatched beauty of Chiang Mai’s hinterlands to its incredibly diverse community, Chiang Mai is truly one-of-a-kind.

This travel video is a little different from my other travel videos as we take on the point of view of a local instead of me filming myself experiencing the place, as I used to. By spending over 3 months in Chiang Mai, I was able to befriend many locals, which gave me access to some of the most incredible and authentic moments that I wouldn’t have experienced as an outsider.

I was also there during the Yi Peng Festival, a full moon celebration of the twelfth lunar month where people would come out, gather around a river, and float their ills and misfortunes away with a krathong or a lantern. It is the festival of floating lanterns that you often see pictures of when you look up Chiang Mai.

Unfortunately, due to how hazardous the floating lanterns have become (it causes fires in people’s homes), and the number of tourists that participated throughout the years, the city has banned floating lanterns and instead, went back to their roots and celebrated its culture with performances and parades on the streets of Old Town Chiang Mai, as you will see featured in this video at the end.

We also went to many national parks, mountains, and waterfalls that are off-the-beaten-path, so you can expect to see new places you may not have known about in Chiang Mai in the video. Together with inspiring music this time, I am quite proud of this video, and I hope you enjoy watching the video as much as I do making them.
