The Romeo Collection has opened the Romeo Roma, a 74-room luxury hotel in Rome’s historic center.
The property, which is located near the city’s Piazza del Popolo, occupies a 16th-century palace. The hotel is one of the final projects of the late architect Zaha Hadid.
The hotel showcases a blend of contemporary architectural elements and historic features. Some guestrooms and suites feature original 16th-century frescos, with various accommodations incorporating amenities like whirlpool tubs, hidden televisions and integrated fireplaces.
The property is home to Michelin-starred chef Alain Ducasse’s first restaurant in Rome, Il Ristorante Alain Ducasse Roma. Other culinary options include all-day dining venue Il Cortile and rooftop lounge La Terrazza.
The hotel’s 13,000-square-foot wellness center, La Spa Sisley Paris, features a hammam, a gravitational tub, a salt wall and a fitness center. The spa’s centerpiece is its indoor-outdoor pool, designed with a transparent bottom that allows guests to view archaeological remnants that were discovered during the property’s construction.
The Romeo Roma is Romeo Collection’s second hotel, joining the Romeo Napoli. The Romeo Massa Lubrens, is scheduled to open near Sorrento later this year.
