TAP Portugal and Avianca open a co-branded lounge in Miami

Avianca and TAP Portugal
have opened a co-branded lounge at Miami Airport.

For TAP, the
6,600-square-foot lounge is its first outside of Portugal. The facility also is Avianca’s only U.S. lounge. It is open 24 hours per day to TAP, Avianca and Star
Alliance passengers holding first or business class tickets. Flyers with
qualifying status levels in TAP, Avianca and other Star Alliance loyalty
programs can also enter, as well as Priority Pass members.

The lounge is located in
Concourse J of the South Terminal. The space was previously occupied only
by Avianca but had been closed since 2020. Renovations began late last year.

Its offerings include
dedicated workspaces, a children’s play area, relaxation areas and showers.

Food and beverage
offerings will include Portuguese food and drink such as pasteis de nada and
vinho verde.

From June through August
of this year, TAP will fly 11 U.S. routes, including new routes between Boston
and Porto, Los Angeles and Lisbon and San Francisco and the Azores. TAP’s U.S.
flight count is scheduled to be up 9.1% during those summer months year-over-year,
Cirium flight schedule data shows.

Avianca will fly 21 U.S.
routes this summer, including new routes to Bogota from Dallas, Fort
Lauderdale, Chicago and Tampa. The carrier plans to increase its U.S.
flight count
this summer by 18.2% year-over-year.

Avianca will fly five
routes in and out of Miami this summer, while TAP services Miami only from
Lisbon.
